How the generator picks each round
- Who sits: when players don't divide evenly by 4, the players who have sat out the fewest times sit next. It avoids making anyone sit two rounds in a row, and among the rest, whoever has played the most games sits first. Sit-outs spread across the whole group.
- Who partners: among the players on court, it tries hundreds of shuffles and keeps the pairing with the fewest repeat partners. With 8 players over 7 rounds, you'll usually partner with almost everyone once, though an occasional repeat can slip in.
- Who plays whom: once teams are set, it matches them to minimize repeat opponents, then assigns courts.
- Late arrivals and early leavers: tap a name to mark someone away or back. The next round uses whoever is here, and the history still counts.
Rounds aren't pre-printed for the whole session. Each one is built from the history so far, which is why it handles people coming and going and a court opening up halfway through.
How many players sit out? (doubles)
Each court holds 4. Whoever can't fill a full court sits that round. Here is the math for 4–24 players:
| Players | 1 court | 2 courts | 3 courts | 4 courts | 5 courts | 6 courts | Courts you can fill |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 |
| 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 |
| 7 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 1 |
| 8 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 2 |
| 9 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2 |
| 10 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 |
| 11 | 7 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 2 |
| 12 | 8 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 3 |
| 13 | 9 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 3 |
| 14 | 10 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 3 |
| 15 | 11 | 7 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 |
| 16 | 12 | 8 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 4 |
| 17 | 13 | 9 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 4 |
| 18 | 14 | 10 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 4 |
| 19 | 15 | 11 | 7 | 3 | 3 | 3 | 4 |
| 20 | 16 | 12 | 8 | 4 | 0 | 0 | 5 |
| 21 | 17 | 13 | 9 | 5 | 1 | 1 | 5 |
| 22 | 18 | 14 | 10 | 6 | 2 | 2 | 5 |
| 23 | 19 | 15 | 11 | 7 | 3 | 3 | 5 |
| 24 | 20 | 16 | 12 | 8 | 4 | 0 | 6 |
Example: 10 players on 2 courts means 2 sit each round. Over 5 rounds everyone sits exactly once. 13 players on 3 courts means 1 sits, so each player sits once every 13 rounds.
Scores and standings
Type each game's score under the round. The Standings tab ranks players by wins, then win rate, then point difference, and shows how many times each player sat. That's handy for a ladder night or for picking the top four for a final.
Let players see their court on their phones
Tap Share with players to get a QR code and link. Players scan it and see the current round's courts, partners, who sits out, and standings. They don't need an app or an account. After each round, share again (or put the QR on the fence) so it stays current.
Round robin vs. open play rotation
A round robin plays everyone with and against as many others as possible, usually for a set number of rounds. Open play rotation is looser: games run as courts free up, and people come and go. Paddle Gecko works for both. For more, see the open play rotation guide.

The generator, scoring, standings and QR board are free for up to 2 courts, with 1 saved player group. Organizer Pro is a one-time $9.99 unlock for bigger sessions: unlimited courts, unlimited saved groups, printable round sheets, and your club name on the player board.

FAQ
Is this pickleball round robin generator free?
Yes. Generating rounds, keeping scores, standings and the QR player board are free for up to 2 courts, with no sign-up. Organizer Pro ($9.99 one-time) adds unlimited courts, more saved groups, printable sheets and club branding.
How many rounds should a pickleball round robin have?
It depends on your time and game length. Time your group's first round, then divide the session by that. With 8 players, 7 rounds is enough for everyone to partner with nearly everyone once. You can stop after any round, and the standings stay accurate.
What if the number of players is not divisible by 4?
The extra players sit out that round, and the generator rotates who sits so nobody sits twice before everyone has sat once. The table above shows how many sit for each player and court count.
Can players join or leave in the middle?
Yes. Add a name or tap someone to mark them away. The next round is built from whoever is here, and the partner and sit-out history carries over.
Do players need to download an app?
No. The organizer runs it in a phone browser, and players scan a QR code to see a read-only board of courts, partners and standings.
